May 10, 2013 路 The 2nd SATA drive would be my backup drive. I would use a backup utility to create disk images and store them there. My favorite option is to use 64G mSATA for my boot drive or install a large SSD drive for boot and apps/data. Then use the existing 1TB for the backup images (possible buy a smaller one and use the 1TB in my NAS device).
Jul 7, 2014 路 SATA is a computer bus specifically for connecting mass storage devices to host systems. SATA stands for Serial ATA and is the follow-on interface to the PATA (Parallel ATA) interface originally designed in 1986. Nov 29, 2021 路 7 Technologist. 0. November 29th, 2021 22:00. any 2.5 ssd will work if you find a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter to mount the ssd then mount the adapter to chassis (often needs an adapter that has 3.5 side mounting tapped holes). typically user use 256-512 ssd as boot drive and a larger 1 tb hdd for data storage. you can have both ssd and hdd in 8700.
Nov 27, 2023 路 The major difference between M.2 SSD and SATA SSD is that M.2 SSD supports multiple storage and non-storage. Thus, it is more of a form factor. On the other side, SATA is a bus interface, particularly for data storage devices. When it comes to the selection of the best SSD for different purposes, you can use M.2 PCIe SSD for gaming PC.

I am trying to upgrade the internal mSATA SSD in my W530, from 120 GB to 480 GB. I then cloned my existing system partition onto it, using an mSATA > USB adapter, and Macrium Reflect 7 Free Edition. I tried booting from it, both with the new mSATA SSD installed, and externally via the mSATA > USB adapter. But without luck.
Apr 30, 2015 路 About the M.2 port: The new Dell Latitude series use the M.2 Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF) cards for the mini-card slots. This new type of expansion slot has replaced the older mini-card slot. This new form factor is smaller than the original mini-cards and half mini-cards in size, and is based on PCI Express x3, SATA 3 and USB 3.0
It wasn't that high (and it didn't skyrocket either, actually). It got to 66 C, 12 C above the usual. The same test on the HDD brought it to 44 C, 4 C above the usual. Samsung 850 mSATA's specs says 0-70 C is the operative range, and 95+ C is non operative. 95 C is almost 30 C more than what I saw with my current mSATA SSD, but since it's going

Sep 21, 2018 路 March 1st, 2020 06:00. @Happy XPS User Yes you can absolutely do that, in fact many people have. Just remove the SATA HDD ribbon cable and mounting bracket, and then the larger battery swaps right in. And then yes of course you鈥檇 install a regular SSD into the mSATA slot. I鈥檇 recommend the Samsung 860 Evo.
